Sorry for the blurry photo. Martin took a shot that didn’t show the correct alignment so I took this one. The alignment is much better.
I love this bodice!
Kristin of K-Line, please help because it’s too tight across the bust but otherwise it fits nicely. Do you think I need a full bust adjustment?
As much as I am loathe to post chubby pictures of myself on the internet, I’m doing it anyway for the sake of sewing.
This armhole is a dream. I’ve never had a bodice lay this flat on me in my entire life. Obviously there is some adjusting needed to fix the gap in the front, but this is serious progress.
No woven garment has ever fit my back this well, and I do believe it is because the armhole is more anatomically correct. I still need to put in the short waist adjustment, but the upper back looks very good.
Ok. We’re ready to do the paper sleeve cone experiment, although I kind of would like to fix that little gap in the front first. It looks to me like all that’s needed is to trim off some of the front bodice at the shoulder seam. Hm. I think I’ll have Martin just pin it in place so it’s a little flatter and deal with that later, because we’re so excited about testing our sleeve cap theory!
Too bad we have to go to a party soon because I do not want to stop now. We’re definitely skipping church tomorrow to proceed with our experiment.
See you soon!

Girlfriend! I am sooo proud of you. And glad you’re having fun with design :) Very cool shape.
K-Line is awesome and will probably give you the best advice re. the bust (you should show us a pic. so we can see the front closer). It looks to me, like it’s “hiking” up a bit, as we say in the industry. Check your high point shoulder. You might need to open it and drop the front just a touch.
Amazing job! And God will forgive you… lol!
Hi Stacy,
Thank you! Ok, I’ll get a closer pic before I tackle the next adjustments. Right now we’re focused on the sleeve cap thing.
Thank you for the tip on the high front shoulder. It does seem like it needs lowering.
Yes, please God, forgive me, I can’t stop!
xoxo
I do love this shape on you too Susan, this blouse is really coming along … well done, bodices can be a nightmare! xo

Thank you Desiree :). xoxo
Nice :-D I did read your previous post but it kinda made my head spin, I’m more of a visual person so seeing the process would be much easier for me.
The armhole is superb and I think the little gap in the front will lay flat once you’ve made the full bust adjustment.

The next post will be visual, I promise :). We’re close to getting some initial results on the sleeve cap.
I’m with coffeeaddict, your previous post was a bit complex for me so to see the work in progress has made it that bit clearer. The blouse certainly fits beautifully! x

Sorry about all of the math. I definitely wanted to record our thinking process but we’ll get it cleaned up and translated to a visual process asap.
Fits so well, especially with the small adjustment you plan to make. I’m assuming this is the muslin for the jacket?
Yes, this is the muslin. Right now I’m just trying to get the fit right before cutting real fabric. xoxo
Eeek – Susan! I am no bust expert (just a struggler) :-) I agree with Stacy that it would be helpful to see a really clear pic of the full bodice.
I think this requires a slash alteration but I can’t really tell if it should be above the bust or below it. (I sense above so that the fabric can settle and drop.)
Have you got a copy of Sarah Veblen’s Perfect Fitting? http://www.amazon.ca/Complete-Photo-Guide-Perfect-Fitting/dp/1589236084
It discusses every fix for every body type.
I obviously have to play down my fitting skills because they’re negligible, in truth :-)

Ok. I’ll get a clear pic up soon, and I’ve ordered the book. Your fitting skills are NOT negligible. xoxo
